Tracklist

Eye Adaba
In 2004 Aṣa met her manager and friend, Janet, who introduced her to Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo, who in turn became her musical partner and producer. "Eye Adaba"  was her first single and got a lot of attention as her style was unique to what Nigerians were used to then.

Jailer
While growing up, her father had built up a fine collection of records featuring soul classics and Nigerian music, including Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, King Sunny Adé, Ebenezer Obey and Lagbaja and Asa went on to draw inspiration from them as she drops "Jailer". Jailer was the second single from Asa. Jailer is still consider by many as her greatest song of all time.

360 Degree
Aṣa soon signed to Naïve Records. Partnered with Cobhams, and with the new involvement of Christophe Dupouy, she produced her first album, Aṣa. 360 Degree is the second song off the famous album.

Bi Banke
The release of the album Asa or Asha saw Aṣa win the prestigious French Constantin Award in 2008, where she was voted best fresh talent of 10 singers or groups by a jury of 19 music-industry specialists in Paris. Bi-Banke is a song that Asa might have dedicated to all those who has been played a fool because they choose to love.

Subway
Whenever Asa came home from school in Nigeria, she discovered musical acts like Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Raphael Saadiq, Lauryn Hill, Femi Kuti and Angélique Kidjo. This was while she was in pursuit of educational excellence, and these musical acts are whose footprints she dreamed of following. It tell on her style of music, Subway stands out, you will agree after listening to Subway by Asa.

Fire on the Mountain
After the album dropped, Fire on the Mountain turned out to be the most popular among the songs off the album, maybe because of the lovely video the song came with or for the fact that it was just too good not to be noticed.

No One Knows
If only Nigerian Politicians will take there time to listen to this song by Asa, No One Knows tomorrow she says. No one Knows is the number seven song from the album.

Awe
The Yoruba people, an ethnic group of Southwestern and North central Nigeria as well as Southern and Central Benin in West Africa, the tribe Asa hails from believes in something they call "Ibawi" which translate warning. Awe is a song that can be seen as an advice or warning to a life going off track.

Peace
After the warning comes peace right, Asa became a prophetess as she talks about Peace on this one. She claims Peace are meant for those who are gone (Dead), but "Yepa" for the ones not yet born. Yepa in yoruba means a cry of agony (My best translations though).

So Beautiful
Asa's debut album topped the Nigerian music chart for a longer period and was also number 15, 18 and 65 in France, Belgium and Switzerland respectively.
So beautiful is a song dedicated to all mothers, mother's day in Nigeria is not complete without this song believe me. Evergreen!
